Even though the next chapter in the famed Darksiders series doesn’t have a definite release date yet, the title is quickly gaining steam. Darksiders Genesis features a marked departure from its previous iterations. For one, it will be the game to finally introduce the final Horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife, who will share this title with none other than War, the protagonist of the original Darksiders. It’s also, as THQ Nordic and its developers iterated, not the official fourth mainline entry for the Darksiders series; rather, it’s a spinoff featuring a top-down hack and slash perspective, giving it the appearance of a dungeon crawling looter title in the same vein as Diablo rather than a third-person action adventure game.
